Your data, treated like money

Privacy Policy.

What Parcelox collects, why, and the control you have over it. Plain English first, legal precision underneath.

Last updated: September 2026

1. What we collect

Only what the marketplace needs

Account data

  • Buyers & sellers: full name, email address, and (for sellers) store name, description and payout details.
  • Security: password (stored only as a secure hash — we never see or store it in plain text).
  • Google sign-in: if you register with Google, we receive your name, email and profile photo from Google — never your Google password.

Usage & technical data

  • Pages visited, products viewed, device and browser type, approximate location (country level) — used to run and improve the platform.
  • Order history, downloads and messages — needed to deliver your purchases and provide support.

Our rule: we collect the minimum needed to run the marketplace. We never sell personal data — to anyone, for any reason.

2. How we use it

To run the service you asked for
  • Provide the marketplace: accounts, storefronts, checkout, file delivery, your library and order history.
  • Payments: process orders, credit seller balances, handle withdrawals and prevent fraud (including the 72-hour security hold).
  • Communication: transactional emails about orders, payouts and account security. Marketing emails only where you’ve opted in.
  • Safety & support: verify sellers, review reported products, answer your questions in English or French.
  • Improvement: aggregated, anonymized statistics about how the platform is used.

3. Payments

Processed by licensed providers

Payments are processed by licensed payment providers (mobile money operators and card processors). We never see or store your MoMo PIN, card number or CVV. We receive only what we need: confirmation that payment succeeded, a transaction reference, and the amount — used to credit the seller and fulfil your order.

Seller payout details (mobile money or bank) are stored securely and used only to send payouts to the same person who owns the account.

4. Cookies

Small files, clear purpose
  • Essential — login sessions, cart, security. The site won’t work without these.
  • Preferences — remembers choices like staying logged in.
  • Analytics — helps us understand usage (e.g., Google Analytics / Microsoft Clarity). Where required, we ask your consent first.

You can block cookies in your browser settings; essential ones will affect how the site functions.

5. Who we share with

Processors, never buyers of data
  • Service providers that help us operate: hosting, email delivery, payment processing and analytics — under contract, only for the purposes above.
  • Other users, limited: buyers see the seller’s store name and public profile; sellers see the buyer details needed to fulfil an order (name, email).
  • Legal authorities where the law genuinely requires it.

If Parcelox is ever involved in a merger or acquisition, your data transfers with the service and remains protected under this policy.

6. Your rights

Access, fix, export, delete
  • Access & copy — ask us what we hold about you and receive a copy.
  • Correction — update most data yourself in your account; we’ll fix anything else.
  • Deletion — close your account and delete personal data, except what we must keep for legal or accounting reasons (e.g., completed transactions).
  • Objection & consent — opt out of marketing anytime; withdraw consent where processing is based on it.

To exercise any right, contact us. We respond within 30 days and will verify your identity first to protect your account.

7. Security & retention

Protected like payments

We apply technical and organizational measures appropriate to a payments-adjacent platform: encrypted connections (HTTPS), hashed passwords, access controls, audit logging of money movements, and the same 72-hour holds that protect buyers.

We keep personal data only as long as needed: while your account is active, plus the period the law requires for transaction records — then it’s deleted or anonymized.

8. Children & changes

18+, and we’ll always tell you

Parcelox is not directed at children under 18, and we don’t knowingly collect their data. If a child’s data was provided to us, contact us and we’ll remove it.

We may update this policy as the platform grows. Material changes are announced on this page and, where appropriate, by email. Continued use after the effective date means acceptance.
